Movements ask the people to take action against the 6X1 scale in BH this Friday

Social and political movements require workers to participate in action against 6X1 working scalein which paid rest occurs only once a week, in Belo Horizonte, this Friday (15/11). The demonstration will take place at Praça Sete, in the center of the capital, from 9 am, and will raise the flag for reduced working hours.

The action is coordinated by the Work and Privacy and Life Over Work Movement (VAT). In Minas Gerais, there is also a call for events in Uberlândia – at Praça Ismene Mendes, starting at 10am; Divinópolis – at Praça do Santuário, from 4pm; Uberaba – at Terminal Oeste, from 10am; Ituiutaba – on Calçadão, from 4pm; Pouso Alegre – at Praça João Pinheiro, from 3pm; and Juiz de Fora – at Parque Halfeld, from 9am.

Through social media, Rick Azevedo (PSOL-RJ), an elected councilor from Rio de Janeiro and head of the VAT movement, spoke about the importance of the supporters of the issue attending the events to “anger and “emergency” on the streets regarding their removal. of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) scale and the Federal Constitution. “We can’t back down now. Let’s stand up as the working class that keeps this country going.”

PEC 6×1

The subject has gained strength in the last few days and is encouraging the processing of a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) that could regulate the subject. Currently, the Constitution determines working hours limited to 8 hours a day and 44 hours a week, allowing time compensation to reduce working hours, through an agreement or labor collective, following to six working days.

This Wednesday (13/11), at a press conference, the federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), the author of the text, said that the article collected 216 signatures in the Legislature. The number is higher than the 171 required to submit the proposal. After all the processing, which takes years, the project must receive a vote from at least 308 deputies in the plenary, in a vote in two rounds.

The change in the work schedule was already proposed in 2019 by the deputy federal representative Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG) through PEC 221. In his document, the working day would be reduced to 36 hours per week. According to Lopes, there are very few sectors that still work according to the working hours established at the end of the last century, being limited to positions with lower wages. In an interview with State of Mines, Monday (11/11), the member of parliament pointed out the agenda as the most important one in the 21st century.

“With technological advances leading to productivity gains, and tax reform, the reduction is another benefit. She shares the results with the staff. It is very important for them to be able to take care of their families, to have more time to take care of their health, leisure, culture, education. And it still has the potential to increase per capita income”, said Reginaldo Lopes.

If registered, the text of Hilton and Azevedo must be linked to the proposal of the vice president of Minas Gerais, which was processed again by the Commission of the Constitution and Justice (CCJ) with the beginning of the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ( PT).

Despite a move to officially create the PEC, it could take years before it is approved by the National Congress. With the protocol, the text will be examined by the CCJ and by a special merits commission, which has a period of 40 sessions to vote. After that, the PEC will be scrutinized by the Plenary, requiring 3/5 of the House (308) to be approved in two rounds. The same procedure is repeated in the Senate, and if there are no changes, the text will be published automatically.
