Entrepreneurs of bottled mineral water Zhong Shanshan Becomes richest man from China in 2021 according to Forbes. Zhang’s fortune overtook Alibaba’s founder Jack Ma which has dropped to fifth place.
Launch Forbes, Tuesday (9/11), the assets of the founder and leader of Nongfu Spring reached US$65.9.07 billion or around Rp939 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp.14,250 per US dollar). The figure is up from last year’s $53.9 billion, when Zhong was ranked third.
Zhong’s wealth shot up during the Nongfu Spring IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in September 2020. Then, about one-sixth of his wealth came from the vaccine company Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy which was listed on the stock exchange in April 2020.
Zhong had to fight hard to become a tycoon. He comes from a poor family and has dropped out of school since elementary school.
After that, he worked in the construction sector and also worked as a reporter for a newspaper. Adding to his barrage of experience, Zhong has also been a beverage sales agent.
In 1997, Zhong founded the predecessor company Nongfu in his hometown of Hangzhou. The company, known as bottled mineral water, also sells other bottled beverages such as tea and juice.
The second ranking of China’s richest people this year is occupied by the founder of TikTok development company ByteDance, Zhang Yiming, with a net worth of US $ 59.4 billion. Then, the top electric vehicle battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Robin Zheng was ranked third with a fortune of US $ 50.8 billion.
