Already in a relegation position, the Nantes boat suffered a new storm: a 3-0 defeat at La Beaujoire against Montpellier in front of 30,000 supporters.
The Canaries are sinking, unable to win a match in Ligue 1 since February. They now have a foothold in Ligue 2 two days from the end. For interim coach Pierre Aristouy, most of his players are paralyzed:
« It’s true some are paralyzed ! It is certain that evolving in a difficult context by saying “I don’t want the ball” or “if I have it, I will give it quickly without trying to create things” it marks a certain fear or a lack of personality ! I’m a football coach, I’m not a psychologist. Afterwards there are things that I have seen that I don’t like, whether in fear, or for certain in the event that they can do more. We will have to take stock of that, and put players on the field with personality, without fearand with this kind of freshness and spontaneity to make differences »
For Captain Samuel Moutoussamy, the situation is critical:
“It’s hard to come out with something positive after a match like this, the situation is critical. Maybe fear takes over when you take a goal, it’s hard to hold your head up. However, mathematically we are still alive. We are not dead: there are 2 games and 6 points left in play. We must take responsibility and do the maximum, so that no one gives up. Ieveryone must still be in the ship, and no one jumps into the water to save themselves. We absolutely have to stick together and fight to the end. There are two games left, it’s doable, we have to fight! »
