“Mouton Noir Restaurant Overcomes Spring Flood with Lucky Opportunity at Auberge de la Muse”

Located along the Rivière du Gouffre, the Baie-Saint-Paul restaurant, Mouton Noir, was not spared by the spring flood. Its kitchen was overwhelmed, forcing its owners to roll up their sleeves. And that’s what they did, thanks to a bit of luck.

“We had an opportunity that presented itself to us in the premises of the Muse. We really see this as a great opportunity. It allows us to continue to operate and keep our staff,” explains Alexandre Belley, head of the dining room at Mouton Noir.

The company will therefore be able to be operational from 1is June in the facilities of the Auberge de la Muse. This will give him time to do the necessary work in his establishment. For now, she finds herself in the same boat as the other victims.

“We are definitely talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars, we are waiting to find out what aid we are entitled to and how long it will take,” continues Ms. Belley.

Officials hope to maintain their turnover. For this, tourists will have to point the tip of their noses. The industry has been sluggish over the past few weeks. The flooding has caused some concern among visitors.

“We are expecting a fairly eventful summer season”, specifies the employee of the establishment.

“It is sure that the events caused a stir all the same. Did we feel a recovery or a slowdown in reservations in anticipation of the summer, yes, “says the assistant director at Tourisme Charlevoix, Michèle Moffet.

According to the Tourism Association, the last few days have been encouraging. Charlevoix is gradually picking up its cruising speed. However, she is not taking any chances. A TV advertising campaign will be launched in June.

“We really want to reassure, to really tell Quebecers that Charlevoix is there this summer at its best and that we are ready to welcome them,” says Ms. Moffet.

Note that Charlevoix is in 2nd position among the most popular destinations for Quebecers for the summer of 2023 according to a survey. Passing tourists are still as happy as ever.
