Mouth caps obligation in nursing home corona fire Staphorst

Now that the number of corona infections is rising again, there are also more fires. One of the biggest fires is Staphorst. Nursing home De Berghorst in that municipality is therefore again introducing a temporary mouth cap obligation. People are also obliged to keep one and a half meters away. Skipr reports this.

The number of corona cases in Staphorst is rising rapidly, partly due to the low vaccination rate (56 percent compared to more than 80 percent at the national level). On Sunday, 54 people tested positive for corona in the municipality. The average number of positive corona tests per 100,000 inhabitants is 312. That is the highest number in our country.

Staphorst only has one nursing home and it is reintroducing the abolished corona measures of a mask obligation and keeping a distance. So far, things are going well, says Janine Noordhuis, director of Zorgspectrum Het Zand, of which De Berghorst is a part. 67 percent of the residents have been vaccinated against corona and only 4 elderly people have tested positive.

Extra services

The nursing home mainly suffers from staff loss. Every day there are five or six employees in quarantine because they have complaints or have relatives with complaints. “We have to ask people to work extra shifts. That asks a lot of them. I have a lot of respect for all employees who once again put their shoulders to the wheel,” says Noordhuis. Although it is suspected that the vaccination rate among staff is just as low as among the rest of the population in Staphorst, no one is pressured to vaccinate. However, two corona measures are coming back at the request of the client council and staff.
