Prof. Cosimo Galletti, who left us on March 1st to reunite with his beloved wife Fulvia, who recently passed away. Who believed above all, and firmly, in constant exchanges with colleagues from all over the world to create a lasting school in Messina. In his long and intense career, prof. Galletti was Professor of Audiology and Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Pathology at the University of Messina and director of the Clinic and of the Specialization School of Otolaryngology.
Under his coordination, the degree courses in Audiometry, Speech Therapy and Audioprosthetic Techniques have been set up, which have significantly expanded the training offer of the Peloritan University. Among the founders of the Sicilian group of otolaryngology, audiology, phoniatrics and cervico-facial pathology, former president of the Italian Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, he leaves in everyone the memory of a man who was able to combine and coexist in an unrepeatable balance the affects and work, scientific rigor and clinical humanism. With great simplicity and determination he committed himself without ever stopping to raise the professional level of the Messina school and of all its numerous collaborators and students. His innate empathy and a philosophy of life open to human and scientific relations were the reagents of a virtuous process that culminated in the organization of annual international courses, among the first in Italy with a theoretical-practical approach, in which, in addition to surgery live, the participant could try his hand at the anatomo-surgical dissection.
