The wandering mare Jenny from Frankfurt am Main, known from the Internet, is dead: the Arabian mare had to be put to sleep, as was announced on Saturday.

The animal was euthanized on Friday morning, as its owner Werner Weischedel said on Saturday.
An ulcer burst on her and she lost an enormous amount of blood. “It no longer served any purpose,” said Weischedel. Other media had previously reported about it.
For about 15 years, Weischedel had let the Arabian mare Jenny run alone through the Frankfurt district of Fechenheim and along the banks of the Main. The gray horse was well known to many residents of the Rhine-Main metropolis.

Cancer had recently been diagnosed in the animal, and tumor therapy was initially apparently successful.
She was still out and about in the district on Thursday, Weischedel said.
