Jose Mourinho without hesitation say duel England vs Germany can be likened to a semifinal duel in Euro 2020 (Euro 2021) because the winner will go smoothly to the final.
Mourinho believes that both teams have the quality to reach the final if they come out victorious in the match.
“For me, England vs Germany is not a last 16 game, it’s a semi-final. Whoever wins, I don’t see them failing on the way to the final,” Mourinho said in The Sun. Express.
Mourinho assessed that other countries in the bloc where England and Germany are located do not have a level that can make it difficult for both countries.
“Winning this game and then that team will face Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals, then the Czech Republic or Denmark in the semifinals.”

“Of course there has to be respect for the other teams that defend but for big teams like England or Germany, the match will be like a semi-final. Win and they can keep going because a stronger path is on the other side of the draw,” said Mourinho.
Mourinho also praised Gareth Southgate’s approach to not worrying too much about England’s poor record in duels against Germany in major tournaments.

“I’m also not the type to look at history. I had a bad record at St. James Park but never thought about it and one day I could win there.”
“It’s the same with people saying that England always lose on penalties,” said Mourinho.
