London –
Jose Mourinho call Tottenham Hotspur need a new striker. Tottenham need a new injection of energy to deal with a busy schedule.
Harry Kane so the only pure striker in the Tottenham squad this season. Meanwhile, Son Heung-min often played as a second striker or substitute when Kane was injured.
Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik. Watford’s captain, Troy Deeney, was also mentioned on Tottenham’s radar.
Mourinho said that Tottenham were trying hard to bring in a new striker in the transfer market this summer. He needs a new striker to deal with his busy schedule.
“I want, I need a striker. But I want to emphasize that the club – the structure above me – knows that I need and want a striker,” said Mourinho as reported Evening Standard.
“Are we going to get it? To be honest I’m sure we will. For the balance of the squad, the team needs it.”
“Especially after the gifts we got from EFL and UEFA, which gave me a unique experience after 20 years in football, playing on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays for two weeks in a row. We realized we needed (a new striker) more than ever. “So, yes, we are working on it,” said Mourinho.
Mourinho insisted that the new striker he wanted was not just a coating for Harry Kane.
“I don’t like the word ‘reserve’. I know we have one of the best strikers in the world. I know we have the best strikers in England, but I don’t like the word ‘reserve’,” said Mourinho.
“The squad is a squad. A striker can play alongside Harry Kane. The striker who comes here doesn’t feel like he’s just a cover.”
