Mourinho finally beat Lampard too

Victory Tottenham Hotspur on Chelsea means important to Jose Mourinho. Finally, Mourinho can beat Frank Lampard.

In the fourth round match of the Premier League Cup which was held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wednesday (30/9/2020) in the early hours of WIB, Tottenham fell behind Chelsea first.

Timo Werner broke Hugo Lloris’s goal in the 19th minute, which lasted 1-0 until the break. After that, Tottenham tried to catch up in the second half.

While being interspersed with Eric Dier’s calling, Tottenham finally managed to score with the squad six minutes before normal time ran out. Erik Lamela scored Sergio Reguilon’s bait ball.

After a 1-1 draw for 90 minutes, the game was ended on penalties and Tottenham emerged victorious, after Mason Mount’s shot went wide. Final score 5-4 for the hosts.

This victory is certainly a relief for Mourinho considering that he has to divide his squad smartly, because he has been waiting for the Europa League match two days later.

What is certain is that Mourinho can finally beat Lampard in a duel as manager, having always lost in the previous three meetings.

The first meeting occurred when Mourinho was still coaching Manchester United, and Lampard was handling Derby County. In the third round of the Premier League Cup, MU lost on penalties 7-8 after a 2-2 draw.

Then last season when Mourinho started tackling Tottenham. At home, Tottenham were beaten 0-2 by Chelsea through a pair of goals from Willian on 12 December 2019.

At the second meeting at Stamford Bridge, February 22, 2020, Chelsea won again with a score of 2-1. Goals from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso were the winner for the West London team. The Spurs responded via Antonio Ruediger’s own goal.

For goal statistics, Frank Lampard so far scored seven provisional goals Jose Mourinho can only make three goals.
