Nicholas Zaniolo probably won’t play again for AS Roma. Jose Mourinho giving an indication of no turning back for Zaniolo who wants to leave.
Zaniolo has expressed his desire to leave Roma in the January transfer window. However, nearing the end of the stock exchange, the transfer has yet to materialize.
AC Milan, who had been interested in Zaniolo, finally withdrew from the hunt because it did not match the price set by Rome. An offer from England also came from Bournemouth, but the 23-year-old player refused.
This rejection reportedly made Roma angry with Zaniolo. Reports from several Italian media claim that Roma are ready to punish Zaniolo by freezing him until the end of the season.
Since his future was speculated, Zaniolo was parked by Mourinho. The Italy international has been absent from the Roma squad in the last three matches.
After the match against Napoli, Monday (30/1/2023) early morning WIB, Mourinho was asked if Zaniolo had the chance to return to the squad following the injury suffered by Tammy Abraham. The Portuguese coach answered no.
“Firstly, I don’t know if it’s injury or fatigue. I want people like that, who want to play for Roma, who go through pain and fatigue to play,” Mourinho told DAZN.
“When you are not happy with the situation in the family, you have to leave, you have to find a solution. The family is for those who want to be here,” he said.
Nicolo Zaniolo made 17 appearances for AS Roma this season. He has just scored two goals and three assists.
