“The Special One” Jose Mourinho was “not amused” on the first day of the new year. The star coach received the yellow card in the painful defeat of his Tottenham Hotspur against Southampton coached by Ralph Hasenhüttl.
During the second half, Mourinho walked to the opposing bank, leaned over to the Soton goalkeeper coach and whispered a few – probably unsightly – words to him. When asked about the incident at the subsequent press conference, the Portuguese replied in the usual Mou manner: “I think the yellow card is fair because I was outrageous, but I was outrageous to an idiot”. Mourinho didn’t want to reveal exactly what he had said to him. Ralph Hasenhüttl is also covered: “I don’t want to say anything about it“.
Tottenham fights for fourth place in the Premier League, which is important for the Champions League qualification. Chelsea are currently six points ahead of the Spurs. With the win against the CL finalists, Hansehüttl was able to take an important step towards relegation.
