Mourad Boudjellal, bearer of a project to buy OM: “Even I can hardly believe it” – Foot – L1 – OM

Up to 800 million euros on the table?

Information began to leak early Friday morning. Mourad Boudjellal is carrying out a project to buy OM. The former president of RC Toulon (2006-2019) quickly confirmed on RMC. He also confirms that the investors are companies from the Middle East (including a state-owned enterprise), led by a prominent Franco-Tunisian businessman. Without revealing anything more. The Franco-Tunisian man would be Mohamed Ayachi Ajroudi (68 years old). He currently resides in Saudi Arabia, the state that would be behind this proposed takeover of OM and where the funds would come from. Everything actually accelerated Thursday, during a meeting in Paris between Boudjellal and investors Saudis in the luxurious setting of the George V Hotel. At the same time, a private international investment bank (Rothschild Bank), dixit Boudjellal, was mandated to contact Frank McCourt, the current owner of OM (since 2016). At the beginning of the week, the Rothschild bank should officially make a takeover offer. Regarding the amounts of the operation, here again, Mourad Boudjellal remained very discreet. But the envelope seems very high. The investors behind the former Toulon publisher would be willing to put at least 500 million euros on the table first. They are even likely to go up to a total of around 800 million if necessary. Frank McCourt had spent 45 million euros (not counting the club’s debts) to buy OM, whose leaders did not respond to our requests yesterday. M. R.
