Mountains and health on the Minister’s menu

The Secretary of State for Rurality, Dominique Faure, is expected in the Hautes-Pyrénées on Monday, both in the Val d’Adour and the Vallée d’Aure.

Elected from Saint-Orens-de-Gameville, on the outskirts of Toulouse, Dominique Faure is a regular in the Hautes-Pyrénées, which she has positioned on the route of her 26 trips listed in three months. “I went there as a child, remembers this Audoise of origin. My mother taught me to love the mountains in summer and winter alike. I have a personal appetite for this massif. That’s why I put a point of honor to be the minister of the mountains.” However, this Monday, for her fourth trip to the field, after in particular the Grand-Est and the Sarthe, the Secretary of State for Rurality will first go to Vic-en-Bigorre in the morning where she will visit the intermunicipal health center. Labeled and put into service in 2020, four general practitioners have been practicing there since October 2021. “The question of medical deserts is an issue that we must deal with in our campaigns, explains Dominique Faure. We must see what works and appreciate how it can be declined.”

The Secretary of State for rurality will then head to Saint-Lary-Soulan, where she will participate in a round table with local elected officials around the Plan Avenir Montagne. “27 million euros co-financed by the State and the region have already made it possible to launch projects for our territories, assures Dominique Faure. Of course, it affects tourism, but beyond that.It can affect crafts, industry, agriculture, etc. These innovative projects must create jobs and help accelerate the diversification of the tourist offer, the ecological transition tourism and modernize leisure accommodation.”

In total, twenty projects must be financed each year in the Pyrenees thanks to the Plan Avenir Montagne.
