That confirms a spokesperson of pension fund ABP after reporting by De Telegraaf.
This concerns people who are entitled to a pension but have not applied for it and therefore cannot be paid out. Pension funds try to get in touch with them.
Address details unknown
For example, civil servants fund ABP does not know the address details of 19,000 pensioners, partly because they have moved to live abroad. There is still 300 million euros ready for them.
On average, this is about 16,000 euros per person. For example, they are people who have worked as a student assistant during their studies and have built up a pension in this way, but do not know that they are entitled to benefits.
Track down
ABP, the largest pension fund in the Netherlands, says it is doing everything it can to find people. “Employees have saved up for this. They are simply entitled to it,” says a spokesperson.
Among other things, ABP deploys employees to track down people. An external agency previously found 2000 participants, according to a spokeswoman. “People who are found are very happy.”
