KOMPAS.com- Mountain Tangkuban Parahu in West Java spewed solfatara smoke on Saturday (12/2/2022).
Head of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) Andiani said the white smoke was monitored by surveillance cameras.
It was reported that a roar was also heard when the smoke came out.
“Activity Mount Tangkuban Parahu emitting white smoke accompanied by the sound of a blazer in the Ecoma crater. About 100 meters from the bottom of the crater,” Andiani said in Bandung, West Java, as reported by Between.

According to Andiani, the smoke is a gas that is harmful to living things.
The smoke was observed spewing from Saturday afternoon until late at night. This phenomenon is known to not appear every time.
For that, he urged the community not to approach the lips of the crater to avoid the dangerous smoke.
“We have coordinated with related parties so that people do not approach the crater,” he said.
So far, he has confirmed that the volcanic activity on Mount Tangkuban Parahu is still in normal status.
According to him, the team from PVMBG who is on the mountain also continues to monitor the status and developments.
“Mount Tangkuban Parahu’s activity is still normal or still in Level I status,” he said.
Meanwhile, the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPB) stated that it had carried out temporary mitigation by evacuating tourists to get off and away from the crater.
