Head of the Padang SAR Office, Abdul Malik, reported developments in the number of deaths due to the eruption Mount Marapi. The death toll so far has increased to 22 people.
“22 people were declared MD,” Abdul Malik told reporters, Tuesday (5/12/2023).
Abdul Malik explained that of the 22 dead victims, 5 people were found on Monday (4/12) evening. Meanwhile, today another 8 people were found and they are in the process of being evacuated to hospital.
Meanwhile, 9 other people who were declared dead are still in the evacuation process.
“Five people were evacuated last night, 8 people were evacuated from noon to tonight, and 9 people are in the process of being evacuated,” he said.
Mount Marapi in West Sumatra has experienced an eruption since Sunday (3/12) afternoon. Currently the climbing route on the mountain has been closed.
