Mount Lebanon is the name of a township and municipality (Home Rule Municipality) in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. According to the 2010 census, it had a population of 33,137 in an area of 15.8 km². It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and a suburb.
Founded in 1912 as Mount Lebanon, the township was initially an agricultural community. With the arrival of the first streetcar lines and the growth of Pittsburgh, both in the early 20th century, it became a suburb that offered residents commuting to downtown Pittsburgh. In addition, the opening of the Liberty Tunnel in 1924 provided easy automobile access to Pittsburgh. In 1975, the renamed Mt. Lebanon became a Home Rule municipality.
According to a 2019 estimate, 31,927 people live in Mt. Lebanon. The population breaks down in the same year into 92.6% White, 1.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 3.8% Asian, and 1.8% with two or more ethnicities. Hispanics or Latinos of all ethnicities made up 1.7% of the population. The median household income was $100,011 and the poverty rate was 4.8%.[1]
