Mount Etna Eruption in Italy and Grindavik Volcano Threat- European Truth Updates

On the island of Sicily in Italy, Mount Etna erupted again on Friday.

As “European Truth” writes, this is reported ANSA.

A fountain of lava and a tall plume of smoke erupted from the southeastern crater of the Sicilian volcano, the tallest and most active in Europe.

At the same time, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) called the volcanic activity of Etna “normal”.

It is noted that the eruption did not affect the operation of the airport in Catania, located nearby.

Previously the Icelandic Meteorological Office reduced the threat level for the town of Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula, where seismic activity has previously increased and a volcanic eruption is predicted.

Grindavik is a town of 3,400 people located on the Reykjannes Peninsula, approximately 50 kilometers southwest of Reykjavik. Icelandic authorities had previously begun build protective walls for Grindavik, which is threatened by an expected volcanic eruption.

The volcanic system on the Reykjanes Peninsula has erupted three times since 2021, having previously been dormant for 800 years. Previous eruptions occurred in valleys far from human settlements, causing no damage.
