Mouila: President Oligui Nguéma lays the foundation stone of BEAC representation – AGP

The Gabonese president received a warm welcome at Mouila airport.

Mouila (south), December 9, 2023 (AGP) – The Gabonese President of the Transition, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, proceeded, this Saturday in Mouila, the provincial capital of Ngounié (South), to the installation of the first stone of the building to house the premises of the fifth (05) agency of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Gabon, reports the local correspondent of the AGP.

In the presence of several personalities, including the President of the National Assembly, members of the government, the vice-governor of the BEAC and his delegation, administrative officials and others, the Gabonese President of the Transition, accompanied by his wife, laid the first stone marking the construction of an agency of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). A symbolic gesture which comes 08 years after the agreement for the transfer of land by the Gabonese Republic to the BEAC, for the construction of an agency.

22 meters high, the future building which will house the BEAC services will be built on an area of ​​10,490 square meters, for an investment of approximately 16 billion CFA francs from the BEAC’s own funds.

”The opening of a BEAC agency in Mouila can only contribute to the promotion of banking, the security of means of payment and more generally, the development of our country. This is why I would like to appeal to other players in the financial sector, national and sub-regional, to include, in their expansion plans, the installation of subsidiaries and offices in Mouila in the province of Ngounié and elsewhere in the country,” indicated Mays Mouissi, Minister of Economy and Participations.

The vice-governor of the BEAC, Michel Dzombala, wanted to thank President Oligui Nguema for honoring his presence at this event, but also for his dynamism.

According to him, this project will also help develop the banking sector in southern Gabon, with the activity of monetary issuance.

”In addition to the architectural monumentality of such a work and its contribution to the development of the infrastructure of the city of Mouila, this project, financed from the BEAC’s own resources, will also make it possible to generate numerous direct and indirect jobs with the recruitment of numerous Gabonese; injected into the Gabonese economy a direct investment estimated at more than 16 billion FCFA for the completion of the works,” affirmed the vice-governor of the BEAC.

The first magistrate of the town of Mouila, Richard Désiré Mamouaka, welcomed the launch of construction work on a BEAC agency in Mouila, while thanking the authorities, headed by the president of Transitioin, for this action which comes boost the economy of the city of Mouila.

”The construction of this building is a credit to the all-out development policy that you have driven since your accession to the supreme office. The people of Ngounié will not forget it. The town of Mouila is the crossroads of three provinces in the south of our country, but also a stopover town for the trans-African route. The BEAC will boost the local economy through direct and indirect jobs, attract investors and other businesses to settle in Mouila, beautify our city, ensure the financial and economic prosperity of our populations,” he said. -he lets it be known.

With the implementation of this project, the Bank of Central African States will have five (05) agencies on Gabonese territory, namely in Libreville, Port-Gentil, Franceville, Oyem and Mouila.
