The young Senegalese giant has shown some truly impressive things in two college-level seasons in the Pac-12. He played more than 30 minutes per game as a sophomore and nearly doubled the shot attempts year over year. While his efficiency didn’t increase as we would have liked to see, it was good to see Gueye at least maintaining his gaps off the ground somewhat with the increased volume. It’s a prospect that hovers around 50% on both points and just under 30% on prime shots.
Mouhamed is also an elite offensive rebounder, with nearly 3.5 goals per game as a sophomore. Its ability to generate second chance points is extremely valuable at all levels. He is also an underrated positional passer, delivering around two assists per game last season.
In transition, he should adapt well to modern NBA play. Gueye has good acceleration and possesses good speed for an attacker. We wouldn’t call him a point forward, but for a 2m10 athlete he runs well with good grips and has no problem getting the ball up the court when shooting a board. It’s a skill every great player needs to thrive at the next level.
Gueye has a smooth jump – which could be an advantage in the NBA. He’s still not a great 3-point shooter percentage-wise, but the advantage is definitely there. He’s solid in the midrange and is a much improved free-throw shooter, which is promising. At the other end of the field, Gueye is quite disruptive. It has a wingspan of 2m21 and moves very well. He’s not as good as a shot blocker as he could be with size and length, but he should naturally improve there.
