In the closing stages of the meeting between Real Madrid and Valencia at the Mestalla, the away team’s Aurelien Tchouamenis tripped powerfully into the legs of the home team’s Mouctar Diakhaby. The Valencia player went directly to the knee area and several players were in shock after the nasty blow.
Diakhaby looked really tormented and could not get off his own machine, his was carried out on a stretcher. One of those helping with the stretcher held up the player’s leg as they left the pitch.
– I hope I’m wrong, but this is an injury that could mean he never plays football again. You become mute. It’s hard to see injuries like this, says TV4’s expert commentator Astrit Ajdarevic in Soccer Saturday Europe.
– His future could be over, it’s that bad. The knee went the other way.
Tchouameni was thus the unfortunate one who fell into Diakhaby’s leg. Shortly after the final whistle, he expressed his support for the Valencia player:
“I am really sorry for what happened to Diakhaby. I wish a speedy recovery,” writes Tchouameni on X.
How bad it is with Diakhaby is unclear at the time of writing.
The chaotic match between Real Madrid and Valencia ended 2-2.
