Motorola is certainly not idle and presents a new smartphone model roughly every month. In April, we welcomed the top-of-the-line Motorola Edge 40 Pro, and at the beginning of May it was its slightly smaller and more compact sibling, the Motorola Edge 40. Not even the month of June and the time until the start of the summer holidays will be a “cucumber season” for Motorola.

Editor Evan Blass, known for his secretive sources at manufacturers and frequent leaks of trusted information, posted on his Twitter a set of product images of Motorola’s new clamshell smartphone. According to the visuals, it will be a model Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. It is particularly striking with its secondary display, which will cover the vast majority of the surface of the outside.
The external display is so large that it even includes both lenses of the main camera as well as the adjacent LED flash. In this respect, it will be the largest triple “shot” of the display that can be seen on a mobile so far. The display will be an OLED type with an almost square resolution of 1056 × 1066 pixels. The internal flexible panel of the P-OLED type is supposed to have a traditional wide-angle resolution of 1080 × 2640 pixels.
Lightweight model and more reasonable price tags
Already last year, Motorola abandoned the original “razrov” design of its clamshells with a characteristic protruding chin and took a similar path as Samsung with its Z Flips. The design is smooth, symmetrical, unobtrusive. Thanks to the large external display, the novelty will have the upper hand not only against the mentioned Samsung, but also, for example, the Oppo Find N2 Flip model, which also has a significantly larger secondary display, but even that does not cover the entire exterior.

Even the name Razr 40 Ultra is interesting. Motorola apparently wants to match the marking and numbering step with its flagship Edge series, so the new Razr will be “forty”, without Razrs having lower decimal numbers. Last year’s model was marked with the year Razr 2022. The Ultra designation is intended to indicate that it will be the highest and best-equipped model in its line, meaning that some cheaper Razrs will also arrive.
The Razr 40 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, will get 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The capacity battery can be recharged using a cable with a maximum power of 33 W. There is no talk of wireless charging yet. The main dual camera, which will form a double opening of the external display, should offer a resolution of 12 + 13 Mpx and a set of primary and wide-angle lenses.

In addition to the Razr 40 Ultra, another basic could then come Motorola Razr 40, which will have only a thin strip of display on the outside, into which the cameras will again be integrated. The equipment of this model will be poorer, but the price tag will also be about 300 euros lower. It is expected to have relatively sober price tags of around 900 euros (approx. 22 thousand crowns) for the Razr 40 and 1200 euros (approx. 29 thousand crowns) for the Razr 40 Ultra. The introduction of both novelties should take place in the next few weeks.
