- We’ve got exclusive details on the upcoming Motorola Moto G Play 2024
- The phone will delight with its improved design and better hardware
- The price in the US should start at 169 dollars
The Motorola brand is preparing to rejuvenate its phone portfolio at the end of next year, while the Moto G Play smartphone should also receive its successor. Its last generation from the end of last year was attractive for its low price and long battery life, otherwise it was a rather uninteresting phone from the lower price levels. We managed to get details about the upcoming generation in conjunction with @onleaks informant (Steve Hemmerstoffer), which should improve both in terms of equipment and design.
Moto G Play 2024: two unnecessary cameras less
According to the press images that we got our hands on exclusively, the Moto G Play 2024 will have a pleasant design rejuvenation. The chin below the display will remain extra-wide (as is common with low-end phones), but the rest of the phone looks quite attractive – Motorola is betting on modern flat sides and an elegant photo module smoothly emerging from the upper left corner of the back.
The upcoming Moto G Play 2024 in a leaked official image
Compared to the previous generation, there will be a fundamental reduction in cameras – instead of last year’s configuration of 16+2+2 Mpx, Motorola will use only one sensor with a resolution of 50 Mpx. There are two “eyes” peeking out from the module, but the lower one belongs to the LED flash. The Quad Pixel inscription reveals that the phone will take 12.5-megapixel photos created by combining 4 adjacent pixels into one. The video should then be able to be recorded in a maximum of 4K resolution. The fingerprint reader has disappeared from the back, it can now be found in the lock button on the right side.
The selfie camera will boast a resolution of 8 Mpx, it can be found in the circular hole in the top center of the display. Motorola will once again bet on a 6.5″ LCD display, but will increase its resolution from HD+ to Full HD+, which will have a positive effect on increased finesse. As with the previous generation, the increased refresh rate of 90 Hz will please.
Memory card and headphone output
The Moto G Play 2024 will be powered by an unspecified Qualcomm chipset, so we can’t yet confirm whether or not the phone will get support for 5G networks – the last generation lacked it. We can at least expect higher performance, the previously used MediaTek Helio G37 did not show any big muscles. The phone will be available in at least one memory configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage with the possibility of additional expansion with a microSD memory card. Old-timers will also be pleased with the presence of a 3.5 mm headphone output on the top.
On the bottom, we can find the outlet of the loud speaker as well as the opening for the USB-C port, which, among other things, will be used to charge the internal battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. In combination with a certainly weaker chipset from Qualcomm, it could be a phone with a multi-day endurance on a single charge. Additional benefits should include increased resistance to splashing water.

Older Android and a nice price
The Moto G Play 2024 will go on sale with the older Android 13, but the update to the newer Android 14 should not be long in coming. The phone will be available in several color variants, at the moment we only have the Sapphire Blue version confirmed. In the USA, the phone is to be sold for 169 dollars, which is about 4,600 crowns including VAT. The premiere of Moto G Play 2024 should take place already next month.
