Motorola launched the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra phones in Brazil, and the event took place less than a week after their announcement in New York. The company is the first to make intermediate foldable smartphones available on national soil, taking the lead in competing for space in this still-so-new market.
Its line stands out for presenting internal and external changes that help to differentiate the two devices, delivering significant advantages for those who choose each option. In addition, both guarantee the fluid usability that compact folding can provide, with an external screen for preview and adjustments focused on vertical social networks, such as TikTok and Instagram, in addition to high-quality screens and attractive camera.
Welcome renewal for your new moment in Brazil
Since Motorola brought its first foldable smartphone to Brazil, the Razr 2019, the company has been trying to explore this niche in the country. After the generational break, which left the Razr 2022 orphaned public, its return to the national market, in addition to providing alternatives in different categories, still brings the freshness of novelty with the visual changes.
The Razr 40 and 40 Ultra retire the rounded and “prototyped” design of their predecessors to demonstrate Motorola’s focus on becoming an alternative to the height of the Galaxy Z Flip line in Brazil. In addition, the company implemented external screens with different sizes to help in identifying the variants.
High frequency flexible screens
In addition to the notorious physical changes, the big difference between both the Razr 40 and the 40 Ultra are the screens. In the intermediate model, we see a 1.5-inch OLED panel on the outside, which brings the frequency of 60 Hz. On the other hand, the internal display – which is larger – has a 6.9-inch pOLED panel and a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra brings even more advanced screens, focusing on pleasing the public that is paying more for the flagship. Therefore, the external screen brings more visibility due to its 3.6-inch pOLED panel, and the frequency of 144 Hz. The advances were also passed on to the external screen, which has the same size of 6.9 inches as the intermediate, but with a 165 Hz pOLED panel.
It is worth remembering that the external screen of the top-of-the-line model brings additional functionality to the “viewfinder” mode, demonstrating how versatile it is. The display also ensures interaction with various applications, allows sending responses using messengers, viewing videos, and even customizations and games.
price and availability
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra arrives in Brazil in Viva Magenta and Black colors, with its sale starting on June 15th. The regular Razr 40 brings alternatives in Vanilla, Sage Green and Lilac colors. Motorola has not revealed a specific date for the start of sales of the premium intermediary, making it clear that this will happen in the coming weeks.
Prices for the Brazilian market should also only be revealed on the 15th of this month. We know, however, that the top of the line device will be sold in the US for US$ 999, equivalent to R$ 5 thousand approximately.
There is still no official value for the common Razr 40, but its price abroad is expected to be around US$ 500 or US$ 600 – something like R$ 2,500 or R$ 3,000. It is important to note that these prices converted from dollars to reals generally do not translate into the final price in Brazil after the local launch.
