Just like Lenovo, Motorola must raise the white flag from the Indonesian smartphone market. However, the name Motorola in the global smartphone market still exists. Evidently, recently they have launched a trio of the latest smartphones that come as Edge 20 Pro, Edge 20 and Edge 20 Lite.
Carrying the “Pro” frills, the highest model features a flagship spec sheet with a 6.7-inch OLED screen and has a 144Hz refresh rate. No less interesting, the Edge 20 Pro comes with a 108 MP main camera and an 8 MP periscope module with 5x optical zoom.
Meanwhile, the Edge 20 has the same 144Hz OLED panel and a 108MP main camera. However, the periscope lens is replaced with an 8 MP telephoto module that has a 3x optical zoom. While the lowest model, the Edge 20 Lite has a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 108 MP main camera.
Edge 20 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 870 chipset with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. While the Edge 20 is only equipped with Snapdragon 778G with 6/8 GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Edge 20 Lite is left with Dimensity 720 alongside 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The Edge 20 and 20 Pro share a 16MP ultrawide camera alongside a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 main sensor. Meanwhile, the Edge 20 Lite gets an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. In terms of power supply capacity, the Lite model leads the way with a 5,000mAh battery and 30W charging.
While the Edge 20 Pro is only equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery and the vanilla model aka Motorola Edge 20 is left with a 4,000 mAh battery. Both Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 are also equipped with the same charging speed, which is 30W.
The software front is covered by My UX which runs on Android 11 and all three smartphones already support the Ready For PC interface, which delivers a conventional desktop-like display when connected to an external display, such as a PC or laptop.
Unfortunately, Motorola will only provide one Android version update and only two years of software support. The reason is Motorola says that most users will not hold a smartphone they have bought for more than two years, although this statement is a bit controversial.
Then, what about the price? The Motorola Edge 20 Pro goes on sale from €699.99 (Rp12 million). The Edge 20 will retail for €499.99 (Rp8.5 million) and the Edge 20 Lite will retail for €349.99 (Rp6 million). All three will premiere in Europe in August and will eventually spread across Europe, Latin America and Asia.
