Motorized service joins neighborhood patrol in Chillán – La Discusión

“With the incorporation of these eight motorcycles, in terms of security, we are adding an investment together with municipal vehicles close to 700 million pesos per year,” said Mayor Camilo Benavente during the launch of the preventive motorized patrol program carried out in the square Heroes of Iquique.

For the municipality of Chillanejo, it is extremely important to incorporate these light vehicles to increase rounds in different sectors of the commune and contribute to the safety and well-being of the community through organized patrols through quadrant rounds.

“This municipal motorized service will allow us to have a much greater response time than what we are doing with our municipal vehicles in joint work with Carabineros. And now we will be able to move through different points, through a daily route map, mainly focused on the historic center of our city and in residential places in a timely manner, ”said the municipal director of Public Security, Alejandra Martínez.

For Mayor Camilo Benavente, these actions are added to the management that has been carried out since last year in the control of street commerce, inspections and mixed patrols, in addition to the collaboration provided to all police and justice institutions.

“We appreciate the support provided by each of the members of the Municipal Council, the presidential delegation, the regional manager of Public Security and the Carabineros de Ñuble in our eminent preventive mission,” said the community chief.

For her part, Alejandra Martínez recalled that among the measures adopted are the training of around 60 municipal inspectors. Now with a municipal budget, for preventive patrolling in the commune, the service was incorporated through the rental of 8 Honda CB-250 Twister motorcycles in 2023, for a period of 36 months, total cost of $121,799,988, tax included, to which another $6,910,000 is added for clothing and protective cases.

“It is a first response team against risk factors and incivilities, coordination with the police and any action that requires the presence of municipal security,” said the director.

During the year 2022, a total of 305 patrols were registered during the year, among which 72 responded to calls from the community, 45 rounds to community squares, 54 inspections of street vendors, 31 inspections of tents installed in Plazas , 41 offenses against illegally parked vehicles and 49 identity checks, among other tasks.
