A patrol of the Bremgarten regional police wanted to stop a driver in Bremgarten on Zugerstrasse on Saturday evening to check on him. The Aargau Cantonal Police reported in a media release on Sunday afternoon. The driver ignored the police stop sign, fled and lost control of his vehicle in Rottenschwil at the Reuss Bridge. He landed in the Reuss with his car.
The 38-year-old Swiss man was able to leave his vehicle independently and unscathed and swim ashore.
As it turned out, the Bremgartner driver was heavily drunk. The driver’s license had also been withdrawn earlier and he was traveling without a valid ID. The public prosecutor’s office in Muri-Bremgarten ordered a blood test and opened a criminal investigation.
Total damage to the Porsche Cayenne. The salvage company recovered it from the Reuss on Sunday morning with the help of a diving team from the police and the fire department.
