A motorist rammed a police car during a chase in Amsterdam on Friday evening. A pedestrian was also hit. Ultimately, the fleeing driver crashed in Pontanusstraat in Amsterdam East, where he overturned, according to police images.
Officers stopped the car on Friday evening on Sarphatistraat near a gas station. The driver then took off at high speed, after which several police cars gave chase.
The driver rammed one of the police cars. Near Zeeburgerstraat, the driver hit a pedestrian who was walking there with a bicycle. The police never heard from that pedestrian again.
The driver crashed at around 9.25pm after knocking over a road sign and losing control, causing the car to roll over. During the arrest, officers drew their weapons and pointed them at the occupants of the vehicle. The three suspects, aged between 20 and 24, were taken to hospital for check-ups after arrest.
Police are investigating why the driver fled and are looking for witnesses and camera images of the fleeing vehicle. The police are also looking for the pedestrian who was hit.
