A motorist drove on Tuesday evening after a fatal collision in the Gelderland town of Wijchen. A 42-year-old pedestrian from Wijchen was killed. The alleged driver was arrested as a suspect in nearby Beuningen later in the evening, the police reported.
Emergency services received a report about the collision on De Ververt in Wijchen around 7.30 pm. The driver did not stop after the collision and drove on.
The police reported around 9 p.m. that they had jammed a car in Beuningen. The suspected driver was then arrested.
According to Gelderland broadcaster the driver of the car got into an argument with the walker earlier in the evening. The police are investigating the cause and motive of the collision.
