Motorist accelerates after police stop signal, woman seriously injured Inland

The driver, a 61-year-old man from The Hague, hit the woman, who became trapped under the car. The man was arrested and the victim was taken to a hospital.

According to the police, the car in question complied with a report from ‘s-Gravenzande earlier in the evening, in which a person had left with family in a possibly confused condition. Around 11 p.m., officers saw the car driving on the bicycle path along Noordlandseweg. They tried to stop the driver by blocking the bike path, but when one of the officers got out to stop the suspect, he just stepped on the accelerator.

The policeman was able to jump away, but the scooter rider, who happened to pass by, was unable to avoid the car. The man was immediately arrested and arrested. A trauma helicopter was called in for the incident, local media reported. Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
