A motorcyclist died at noon on Sunday after crashing into a wall in what is known as Paso del Jaguar, on the highway to the International Airport, in San Salvador.
“A motorcyclist died after losing control and crashing into a wall, near the El Jaguar overpass, in the direction of San Salvador”reported the National Civil Police.
The motorcyclist’s body was left lying in the middle of the road, forcing authorities to close at least two lanes of the stretch, causing slow vehicular traffic on the busy road. Authorities did not report a preliminary cause of the fatal accident.
The victim was identified as Jorge Luis Escalante Rodas, 35 years old, who was an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, as confirmed by institutions such as the Vice Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Public Works through obituaries published on social networks.
During 2024, more than 414 motorcyclists have lost their lives in road accidents, a figure slightly higher than in 2023, according to the National Road Safety Observatory.
