The motorcyclist was driving from Schellinkhout in North Holland over the dike towards Wijdenes just after midnight when she lost control of the wheel. For unknown reasons, she flew out of the corner. “She clattered down the dike with her motorbike. She was launched a few meters.”

Because the motorcyclist had her location on, a friend who was at home was able to follow the motorcyclist closely. “I don’t know whether it was a special app or a standard setting, but the location of the woman could be followed live,” said the police spokesperson.

The girlfriend who was at home saw via the app that the motorcyclist stood still in one place for a long time. She called another friend and raised the alarm. “Together they went to the site of the accident. Thanks to the location determination, they were able to find out exactly where the motorcyclist was.”
Emergency services were called in. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries.
