A motorcyclist was hit earlier in the evening on the Overtoom in West. Police are still looking for the driver, who drove shortly after the collision. Trams 1 and 17 have to detour as a result of the accident.
Police were first alerted about the accident around 6:45 p.m. According to a police spokesman, the driver of the motorcycle was approachable shortly after the accident. He was checked in an ambulance and later taken to hospital.
The intersection where the accident occurred was closed for several hours for investigation. As a result, trams 1 and 17, among others, had to detour for some time. The road has now been cleared there, the police spokesman said. The GVB reports that the trams can also drive over the Overtoom again.
