Motorbike Gang Leader Disbands Group After Viral Attack in West Bandung, Arrests Made

KOMPAS.com – The leader of the motorbike gang who carried out the attack on Jalan Jalan Sergeant Bajuri, Patrol Village, RT 6/15, Cihideung Village, Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency (KBB) disbanded his group.

The motorbike gang attacked opponents, residents and meatball sellers on the side of the road on Saturday (23/12/2023).

The video of the attack was recorded on CCTV and went viral on social media. The police who intervened arrested 27 perpetrators and 10 of them were named suspects.

Meanwhile, 17 perpetrators were required to report because they were still minors.

“Disband, everyone who (members) are still students, please disband,” said perpetrator S, Secretary General of the North Bandung Moonraker Motorcycle Gang at the Cimahi Police Headquarters, Thursday (28/10/2023).

Even though he was not at the location, S was also arrested for influencing the movement of the group to carry out the attack.

The police also named S as a suspect.

This disbandment was carried out because the group had been quite disturbing to the community. In fact, in the last attack, two residents and one meatball seller were injured.

“The incident went viral because the video went viral everywhere, then we formed a joint team from members of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Intelligence and Security Unit and other functions to carry out a series of investigations,” said Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Aldi Subartono.

After three days of investigating, the team arrested 27 members of the motorcycle gang.

“From the results of the examination and in-depth investigation, the 27 perpetrators explained that they were from the Moonraker motorbike group, then we named 10 people as suspects and we detained them,” he said.

Meanwhile, for the 17 perpetrators, said Aldi, they only had to report because they were still minors.

However, all of the perpetrators admitted to carrying out the attack on one of the members of the motorbike gang called Albania.

For their actions, 10 suspects were charged under Article 55 or 56 in conjunction, Article 170 paragraph 1 or paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 55 or 56 in conjunction with 80 Law number 23 of 2002 concerning child protection.

“This is as amended by Law number 35 of 2014 and has been amended by Law number 17 of 2016 concerning the stipulation of Perpu number 1 of 2016 concerning the second amendment to Law 23 of 2002 concerning child protection with a penalty of 6 years and 7 months in prison,” he said.
