Bagnaia, 25, crashed after leaving a discotheque at three in the morning. “I came to the roundabout and ended up with the front wheels in the ditch. It was just me, no other car or people,” he added.

“During the police check, they then measured a higher level of alcohol in my blood than is allowed by Spanish law. I apologize and I assure you that I have learned my lesson. I will never sit behind the wheel under the influence again,” said Bagnaia.
