MotoGp: Misano, the reign of Marquez. Seven successes, no one like him

They say it’s the favorite track of Bagnaiabut also Bastianini and Martin. But guess who holds the record for victories at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli? Marc Marquez, of course. One win in 125cc, 2 with Moto2, poker in MotoGP: in the ‘queen’ category the Catalan (4) did better than Valentino (3), Lorenzo (3) and Bagnaia (2). This track has been racing since 1980, with Kenny Roberts being the first to cross the finish line on a 500cc at his debut. The Grand Prix of Nations, of San Marino, of Italy, of Emilia-Romagna, now of San Marino and the Riviera di Rimini: so many names for one of the most iconic races of the season. The most successful bike is the Yamaha (8), followed by Honda (6) and Ducati (5). Last year it was Martin’s triumph, in the sprint race as in the Sunday GP, and the start of a series that brought him very close to the world title. Ducati promises to break new records: for 78 races at least one Borgo Panigale bike has started on the front row, for 58 there has been a Rossa on the podium.

Lots of braking, but what a ‘brake’ at the Quercia

According to Brembo technicians, who work closely with all the MotoGP riders, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli (4.2 km long) falls into the category of circuits that are challenging for the brakes. On a scale of 1 to 6, it has a difficulty index of 4, thanks to the 12 braking sections per lap, including those in all corners from 8 to 16 inclusive: 3 braking sections are in the “hard” category and 4 are “medium”. Each lap the brakes are used for 31 seconds and result in an overall load on the brake lever of over 47 and a half kilos. The most difficult corner for the braking system is number 8, the Quercia: the MotoGP bikes go from 288 to 73 kmh in 4.6 seconds, covering 213 meters.
