Jakarta –
MotoGP Legend Jorge Lorenzo believes Marc Marquez would eventually leave Honda. Marquez is predicted to join Ducati.
Marquez’s future at the Japanese manufacturer has been speculated as Honda’s poor performance in recent seasons. Moreover, the six-time MotoGP world champion has openly shown his dissatisfaction with the RC213V motorbike.
Marquez’s contract with Honda will only expire at the end of the 2024 season. However, not a few believe that Marquez could have left sooner even though the racer had confirmed his commitment to completing his contract.
Lorenzo predicted Marc Marquez will ride a Ducati, even if it’s a satellite team. Marquez is even said to be willing to drop his salary drastically in order to win another world title.
“Yes, I think Marc Marquez will race with another manufacturer. I think with Ducati,” the five-time world champion told MotoGP.com.
“I think it will happen soon for an offer he’s not really happy with [dalam hal finansial] but he will take it. I’m not sure if he will do it in a factory or satellite team. After three or four years without winning I think he is motivated to win again.”
Nevertheless, Jorge Lorenzo feels that Marc Marquez still will not win automatically if he rides the Desmosedici. It is believed that young racers such as Francesco Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin will provide extraordinarily difficult resistance.
“On the Ducati he will be difficult to beat but he will be 31 years old, 32 years old and the young riders are very tough… But Marc Marquez always Marc Marquez,” said Lorenzo.
