MotoGP 2024 Driver Updates: Teams Announce Line-up for Next Season

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – MotoGP 2023 has entered the fourteenth series of the targeted 20 series. Towards the end of this season, several teams have announced their drivers for MotoGP 2024.

MotoGP 2024 is expected to be attended again by 22 racer and 11 teams, considering that Dorna Sports is still sealing the two empty slots left by Suzuki at the end of 2022. Dorna insists that these slots can only be taken over by new manufacturers who also assemble new motorbikes.

Dorna’s Sporting Director, Carlos Ezpeleta, even wants to reduce the participants to just 20 riders if no new manufacturers want to join.

Even though this season is not over yet, the driver transfer market is already quite busy. There were several drivers who made surprising decisions that affected the line-up MotoGP racer.

Marc Marquez has announced that he is leaving Repsol Honda, and is predicted to defend Gresini, which is a Ducati satellite team. However, there has been no official statement, so the list of Gresini racers will only be occupied by Alex Marquez for next season.

Marquez’s departure also leaves one empty slot at Repsol Honda, which was previously occupied by Joan Mir.

It has been officially confirmed that Franco Morbidelli will be expelled from Monster Energy Yamaha at the end of the season. He will defend Prima Pramac Racing with Jorge Martin next season.

His position at Yamaha will be replaced by Alex Rins, who will team up with Fabio Quartararo. Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Rins’ position at LCR will be taken over by Johann Zarco.

GASGAS officially announced that Pedro Acosta will move up to the MotoGP class next season. Defending for GASGAS Factory Racing Tech 3, he will team up with Augusto Fernandez.

Mooney VR46 Racing Team, which is Valentino Rossi’s racing team, has also confirmed that Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini will stay in their squad for another year.
