Marquez is ready for Austin’s return as Espargaro plots revenge. Marc Marquez will return to the MotoGP World Championship in Austin aboard his Repsol Honda Team RC213V after consulting his medical team.
Doctors authorized Marc Marquez to return to the Grand Prix after his fall in the Warm Up at the Indonesian GP and the subsequent diagnosis of diplopia. The Repsol Honda Team rider has completed his conservative treatment plan and is ready to return to action at Round 4, the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Before heading to the United States, he confirmed that he was in form on a CBR600RR at the Alcarras circuit.
Marquez’s record on the Texan circuit speaks for itself, having only lost the win on one occasion when he crashed while comfortably leading in 2019. Despite his historic speed on the track, Marquez is not chasing immediate glory and is aiming to spend the weekend to get back in step with the Honda RC213V.
Aleix Espargaro leads the MotoGP World Championship with just 45 points after three races, Pol Espargaro is just 25 points behind and, despite missing two races, Marquez is 34 points from first place. With 18 races still to go and a potential of 450 points, it is still a fully open championship.
Mark Marquez: “Of course I am very happy to be back, it is a good feeling to be back and above all to do it on one of my favorite tracks. Regardless of the situation, I really enjoy racing in Texas and have amazing memories there. We have some work to do after missing two races and the whole Argentine weekend, so I’m not here to set a goal at the moment. There are many things to do and to consider, but the important thing is to get back on the bike this weekend ”.
