Although Marc Marquez scoring Honda’s first win since 2019 with a sensational comeback win in Germany, Honda has struggled to come close to the podium this season with the troubled 2021 RC213V.
Honda currently sit fifth in the constructors’ standings, just 24 points clear of Aprilia and 98 adrift of Yamaha after the first nine races of the 2021 season.
The lack of rear grip is the main obstacle for Honda riders in 2021 which affects the acceleration and braking phase when cornering.
The new chassis introduced for the Dutch series was met with praise from Marquez and Espargaro, who called it the first update he has had this year that feels like a step forward for Honda.
Espargaro, who says his 2021 year is hampered by a “lack of knowledge” due to a lack of testing, does not know what updates Honda will bring after the five-week summer break.
But admit that HRC has a lot to give to really improve their bike.
