The first round of the Madagascar MX Motocross Championship was dominated by Mathias Plantive at the 100% MX Track circuit in Ambohidava.

Unbeatable. Mathias Plantive, the reigning Madagascar champion, brilliantly won the first race of the Madagascar off-road motocross (MX) Championship organized by Iarivo Moto Club (IMC), this weekend, at the 100% MX Track circuit in Ambohidava. After a captivating race, Mathias consolidated his position by winning against tough competition. Double champion of Madagascar in MX and Enduro in 2023, he proved his mastery by ensuring his entry into the running. He completed 12 laps in 20 minutes, accumulating 50 points, or 25 points for each round. The battle was fierce between the two main competitors, with Claudio Tida, national champion in 2018, also completing 12 rounds, totaling 40 points, or 20 points for each round. He got off to a good start after winning the first “Triple Crown” non-championship race on February 14. “ I am very happy to have won the first event of the 2024 Cross Championship! The day went very well and the circuit was very well prepared! I really thought I could fight Claudio Tida, unfortunately he had a problem with his left hand following a fall last week. He couldn’t give his best. I can’t wait until February 11th for the 2nd race which will take place in Antsirabe! Furthermore, my objectives this year are to maintain my title of champion in the cross category and to win more first places », Shares Mathias after his victory. The podium is completed by Randy Rakotoarimanana with 32 points, 16 points for each round.

Innovation

JeanGabriel Harison, president of the Malagasy Motorcycling Federation (FMaM), underlines: “ innovations in the race, including the use of a starting grid instead of the flag as usual, and announces a future collaboration with the international federation to establish a driving school aimed at raising the level of Malagasy drivers “. In other categories, winners include Andy Andrianirina (MX2), Jeremy Rakotoarimanana (juniors), Tsirava Razafimahefa (veterans 1), Makboul Tarzan (veterans 2), Adolphe Alain Houssen (amateurs), Chan Andriana (85cc F), Guillaume Tsiranana (85cc), Louna Ramanantsoa (65cc F), Leung Yen Eros (50cc), promising a competitive motocross season.
