Mothers have no lobby in this country

So far, Austria’s fathers have almost never shared their pension rights with their children’s mothers. Usually not out of avarice, but out of ignorance.

The turquoise-green government wants to introduce automatic pension splitting. Mind you: Since 2005 there has been the possibility that the working parent can transfer up to 50 percent of his pension entitlements to the other parent, provided that the parent takes more care of the children together. Since these are still predominantly mothers in Austria, pension splitting benefits them. Better said: would come. So far, it has hardly been used.
