“It’s strange that suddenly there is a lot of cooking oil here, even though yesterday it was a little empty. When I was about to buy it, it turned out to be expensive again, Rp. 23,000 per liter. No wonder there’s more cooking oil now,” said Joya (30), one of the housewives. stairs shopping at one of the supermarkets, Wednesday afternoon.

At first, he received information on social media that cooking oil was found in all supermarkets.
However, it turned out that the price was again expensive which did not match the previous government’s Highest Retail Price (HET) for packaged cooking oil of Rp. 14,000 per liter.
“Earlier, I made sure that it was true here. No wonder it’s so plentiful and easy, it’s expensive again. I was surprised by my friends here,” added Joya.
Joya and his friends also bought up cooking oil at an expensive price again to determine whether there was a purchase restriction or not.
Apparently, when asked to the cashier, now there is no limit and you are welcome to buy a lot because the stock is abundant again.
“Earlier, he said he wanted to buy a lot, it’s okay. It’s no longer limited because the price is expensive again. Yesterday it was cheap, it’s hard to ask forgiveness for the goods. We are a team emak-emak so confused with the current condition, a lot of strange. It’s a mess, it’s a mess,” said Joya.
This was echoed by another housewife, Sri Mulyani (36), who admitted she was strange and questioned the government’s policy regarding cooking oil prices so far.
When low prices apply according to the government’s HET, the stock is low and it’s difficult to have long lines.
But when the price was high again, the stock suddenly increased and they were freed to buy cooking oil.
“Yes, it was a surprise, sir, it was very strange. When there was no cheap, it was difficult, you had to stand in line to get cooking oil. Now it’s expensive again, there are a lot of things. It’s messy, it’s weird,” he explained.
Previously, the government adopted a policy of revising the highest retail price (HET) for cooking oil following the recent shortage.
HET cooking oil Previously applicable, referred to the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 06 of 2022 concerning the Determination of the Highest Retail Price for Palm Cooking Oil.
The regulation was issued following an increase in cooking oil prices since the end of 2021. At that time, the price of branded packaged cooking oil had crawled to Rp 24,000 per liter.
It’s just that, when the price of cooking oil on the market has dropped, the existence of the item has mysteriously disappeared.
Cooking oil for Rp 11,500 to Rp 14,000 per liter in retail stores, supermarkets, traditional markets is becoming scarce and always runs out quickly if supplies come at any time.
Now, to overcome the problem of scarcity of cooking oil, the Government has revoked the provisions regarding HET that were previously in effect.
