NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A North Miami woman, who was inside a car parked in front of a discount store, holding her baby, was the victim of a shooting.
Over the weekend, the woman was hit by a bullet in the head in the middle of a dispute between two other people. Police arrested the alleged shooter, 35-year-old Anna Ixchell Williams.
The victim spoke to Local 10 News about the terrifying incident, which occurred Sunday morning in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store, located at 280 NE 135th St.
“It hit me in the head, in the side,” he recalled. “I was in shock, just screaming… my baby was covered in blood, and so was I.”
Both she and her baby managed to survive.
Authorities reported that it all started with an argument inside the store between Williams and another woman, who had arrived at the scene with the victim.
According to police, Williams followed the other woman out of the store and shot into the car where the victim was sitting with her baby. The bullet, instead of hitting its target, hit the woman who was with her daughter.
“I heard a loud ringing in my ear, I didn’t understand what was happening, and suddenly the glass broke in my face. “I got out of the car in panic,” said the victim. “I felt like I was going to lose my life, and so was my daughter.”
The woman has created a page on GoFundMe to raise funds to cover medical expenses.
Anna Ixchell Williams faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm causing bodily harm, firing a deadly projectile and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. As of Friday, she remained detained without bail.
