A woman resident in Santiago de Cuba has gone to social networks to report the theft of her passport and that of her six-year-old daughter, requesting the community’s help to locate them in exchange for a reward of $1,000.
According to the publication, shared in the Facebook group ‘Sales of all kinds Santiago de Cuba’, the passports were taken from his home, so he does not know where they can be found.
“I offer 1,000 USD to whoever gives me these passports, for God’s sake, I ask it,” wrote Internet user Roselí Gómez.
While she didn’t give many details about the robbery, the woman went on to respond to various comments made in her post, noting that she doesn’t want to involve the police, so she hopes the person who took them will return them.
“They took them from the house, but I’m not going to mention the police or anything, I just need them, please,” she wrote when asked where she lost the documents.
Among the comments, several of the netizens suggested that the perpetrator must have been someone close to the victim, as it is rare for a thief to enter a home solely to take identification documents.
Others also suggested that the thief could have been the girl’s father, in an attempt to prevent her and her mother from leaving the Island, however, the woman did not bother to answer these accusations.
The post was filled with dozens of comments from the entity wishing it could locate the passports, with some stating that if they are found, they will be returned to them without the need for monetary reward.
“God help you find them”; “I wish you the speedy recovery of those documents” and “I hope they appear, how desperate”, were just some of the comments made.
Rewards in Cuba
In recent months, reports of robberies have begun to increase throughout the Island, with several victims offering a monetary reward in exchange for information that will help them solve their cases.
Recently, a citizen offered a reward of 300,000 Cuban pesos (CUP) for information to help him discover the whereabouts of a motorcycle that was stolen from his home.
According to security video shared last month, two thieves broke into his garage early one morning, taking the vehicle, a power plant and some tools.
Similarly, this week, it was learned that another citizen is requesting information about a man who illegally seized an electric motorcycle in Santa Clara, offering a “good reward” in exchange for this data.
