According to a source from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, during the afternoon, the pediatric services of Hospital Amadora-Sintra contacted the Cacém police station, reporting that a woman was at the place claiming to be the mother of the baby who was left at 11 pm Tuesday at the Baptist Social Center.
The same source added that, immediately, the PSP’s Sintra criminal investigation teams were activated, which transported the woman to the Cacém police station.
“After contacting the Public Ministry and some steps were taken, the identity and residence of the defendant was decreed,” said the source.
On Wednesday, a PSP source told Lusa that it was the employees of the Social Center who alerted the authorities after hearing the newborn male crying at his door.
According to the same source, the baby “was in good health”, but was transported to Hospital Fernando da Fonseca, in Amadora, having been contacted by the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia.
The Centro Baptista Social (CSB) is a Foundation created by the Evangelical Baptist Church of Cacém to serve the community.
