New Details Emerge in Disappearance of 3-Year-Old Wisconsin Boy

Background

In a distressing turn of events surrounding the unsettling disappearance of 3-year-old Elijah Vue from Wisconsin last month, new details have emerged shedding light on the days leading up to the tragic incident.

Mother Faces New Charges

Prosecutors have recently leveled new charges against Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, in connection with the case, presenting fresh evidence related to the circumstances leading up to the young boy’s disappearance.

Boy Vanishes from Two Rivers Residence

Elijah Vue went missing on February 20, after being sent by his mother to stay with her boyfriend in the Two Rivers area of Wisconsin, as part of an attempt to instill the principles of manhood in the young child.

Intensive Search and Growing Reward

Despite an extensive search conducted by both law enforcement agencies and concerned residents in the area over the last two weeks, young Elijah Vue has yet to be located. In a bid to gather information about Elijah’s whereabouts, the reward for any significant leads in the case has been raised to an astounding $25,000.

Evidence of Neglect Emerges

A courtroom proceeding on Thursday unveiled evidence indicating that Elijah had been left unattended by his mother for a minimum of one hour on February 16, as she accompanied her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, to various locations in Manitowoc.

Furthermore, prosecutors revealed that Katrina Baur had also left a 6-year-old child alone in an unattended vehicle for an hour on February 14, despite the critically low temperatures.

Mother’s Emotional Turmoil

During the court hearing, Ann Larson, Baur’s attorney, acknowledged the intense emotional state her client is currently experiencing, while emphasizing Baur’s deep concern for her missing son.

Updated Charges and Preliminary Hearings

Initially, Baur had been charged with party-to-a-crime child neglect, as well as resisting or obstructing an officer. However, in light of the presented evidence, prosecutors have revised the felony count to party-to-a-crime chronic child neglect, and an additional misdemeanor charge of neglecting a child has been filed against Baur.

While Baur’s request for a bond reduction was recently denied by the judge, the preliminary hearings for both Baur and Vang, her boyfriend, have been rescheduled to March 14.

Boyfriend Also Facing Charges

Jesse Vang, 39, has been officially charged with felony party-to-a-crime child neglect.

Mother’s Disturbing Explanation

According to a criminal complaint, Baur informed the police that she had entrusted her 3-year-old son to Vang’s care on February 12, expressing her desire for him to learn through Vang’s guidance.

On the day of the disappearance, Vang contacted the police, reporting that the child had gone missing. Vang claimed that he had taken a nap alongside the young boy, but awoke to find Elijah had vanished.
