A mother was charged this week with the murders of her son and daughter who were found beheaded last year at their California home, authorities said Wednesday.
The mother, Natalie Brothwell, 44, who has been living in Arizona, was arrested Tuesday at her home in Tucson. She will be held in the Pima County Jail pending her extradition to California, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Their 13-year-old daughter Malaka Taylor and 12-year-old son Maurice Taylor Jr. were found beheaded last December at the family’s home in Lancaster, located in the Mojave Desert about 70 miles north of downtown. The Angels.

The children’s father, 35-year-old Maurice Taylor Sr., was previously arrested and charged for their deaths, authorities said. He remains in custody on charges of murder and child abuse, according to agents.
Taylor, a personal trainer, was charged with killing the children on November 29.
Initially, agents were called to the scene after Taylor’s clients became concerned that they did not hear from him all week despite scheduled Zoom training sessions.
He allegedly kept the bodies in the house for days and showed their bodies to his other two sons, who were 8 and 9 years old at the time.

Brothwell’s alleged role in the killings was not immediately clear in the Sheriff’s Department statement.

She was charged Monday with two counts of murder and two counts of felony endangering a minor.
An investigation is underway, according to the department.
