The mother of the boy who had been abandoned in the Texas desert after illegally crossing the US border has been released, relatives confirmed.
The boy’s mother had been kidnapped by criminal gangs along with the boy and his captors were asking for money for the release of both.
“I have the best news in the world. My sister has been freed. What a blessing, what a joy, thank you dear God, this is the happiest moment of my life, I will be able to sleep in peace now. I want everyone to know that thanks to God my sister has been released, “the woman’s brother, who did not offer details on how the release occurred, said via YouTube.
The boy’s story became known after the video in which he is observed alone in the middle of the desert went viral and, between tears, he tells an official of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP): “¿¿ Can you help me? I was coming with a group, and they dumped me and I don’t know where they are. “
In an interview that the television network Univisión, in the United States, did with the boy’s uncle, he affirmed that the woman and her son traveled by land, and were kidnapped in Mexico, but that the minor was released from the north side of the border after the payment of a ransom.
The minor’s uncle claimed that he did not have enough money to pay their ransom. So far it is unknown whether the release was due to pressure from the authorities or the payment of a ransom.
The Nicaraguan Government, for its part, reported that it had already delivered to the United States authorities the documents necessary for the minor’s repatriation, although the family requested that the mother be expected to appear so that she could decide what to do with the minor.
“Our consul was talking with the minor, whom he observed in good physical, mental, emotional and mental health. The minor said he was happy to know that he was being helped to return to Nicaragua and that in the place where he is he has felt good, he plays soccer with other children, but he wants to hug his father and grandmother again, “he says. a press release from the Ministry of the Interior.
